BSNL launches 3G service in Pune

PUNE: On Monday, Pune became the first city to get BSNL's 3G service in the western zone that comprises Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Chattisgarh and Maharashtra.

From now on, BSNL subscribers can use high-speed Internet facilities.

One of the main features is video call, both local and STD, which will be charged 30 paise a minute.

All pre-paid and post-paid customers with 3G-enabled handsets can avail themselves of the service, which will be extended to 52 cities in the zone in the next couple of months.

Alok Kaul, Chief General Manager, BSNL, Maharashtra Circle, said the PSU had 300 3G-enabled base transceiver stations (BTS) in the city and 140 more would be activated soon.
